Life as a musical

So I don't know how many of you were fans of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but if you didn't, you are missing out. Buffy was such an addicting television series! Buffy was one of the best times of my life and one of the best episode was Buffy the Musical.

I just love musicals... High School Musical 1, 2, and 3. Glee is my newest addicition. It is so good! It's on Fox and if you haven't watched, you should. The songs are fantastic!

I wish life were a musical and here's why:

  1. Everyone would share their feelings. You couldn't help, but sing about love, sorrow, and anger. There's no guessing how someone feels.
  2. No one would be fat (i.e. ME). With any good musical number, there better be lots of dancing. Dancing and singing all the time=Best exercise routine ever.
  3. It would make life so interesting.
  4. Everyone would be in unison. It would be so cool!

What does Linda want for Christmas?

Black Friday is coming up and I'm going to try and get all my Christmas shopping done in one day. I know... right? We'll see what happens, Macy's is having a giant sale, so let's see if I make it out of the clothing section.

Remember when we were little and we made lists to Santa? I was thinking what I wanted for Christmas...

  1. Neosporin to go
  2. Karaoke Machine
  3. Fedora Hat

Unbelievable: Car loses control and no one is hurt!

Our trip to Ithaca, NY came to an end on Saturday at 3:30 pm. We decided it would be ideal to drive down to NYC since our place was leaving Sunday around 2 pm and it takes around 5 hours to drive and maybe even longer with how lost we get. So at the last minute, I got us a hotel in the city.

I went on www.priceline.com and decided to do a hotel bid. I was so lucky and got room at the Hilton for $120 on a Saturday night. It is literally 1 block from Radio City and 2 blocks from the Broadway Theatre district. The Hilton is in an ideal location and it’s really nice. If you go there, I’d definitely recommend it. Just try not to rent a car, parking is almost $50 for 24 hours. I know, welcome to NYC. When I went to Seattle, they charged about $17, so I didn’t feel too bad about it.

Anyways, we had just gotten off track and drove into a pit stop. There was a little eating place called Vince Lombardi. My friend Hannah and I saw a penny making machine, so we spent the time cranking out pennies while the rest of the group got directions.

We got our pennies and the others got directions, we started heading back to the freeway. All of a sudden a car accelerates around us and starts to fish tail. The car was a white Ford Explorer and it did a 90 degree turn and looked like it was going to crash into the ramp, but to all of our surprised, the Explorer went over the ramp.

Then it crossed 4 lanes of traffic and went over a second ramp into on-coming traffic. Yes, he crossed a total of probably 6 lanes of traffic and landed in on-coming traffic. It was crazy! We were all sitting in the car in shock because it was like we were watching a scene from a stunt show. Even when he landed in on-coming traffic, no one hit the car. They were all able to go around it and he had to do a U-turn to continue driving, which meant he crossed another 4 lanes to flip his car around.

When the car went over the second ramp, it was up in the air almost parallel. I thought the car was going to roll backwards. It was truly amazing nothing happened. If I was anyone in that car, I’d probably pass out from fright. It was seriously unbelievable. I wish I had gotten it on camera!

Seriously, it happened so quickly, no one really knew what was going on. My explaination doesn't even do this justice. I mean, this is a once in a lifetime event. It was so cool, yet so scary.

My first flight on JetBlue

I took an overnight flight to NYC and I decided I would never do that again. Jet Blue almost left me! My flight left at 11:40, but when I got there at 11:10, they told my group that it was the last call and if I was not there by 11:20, they would fly without me. Luckily, they were sweet and were not going to board the plane without me. Can you believe that? I can’t believe they would leave a customer who checked-in! Why would you leave me? I didn't do anything!

I must say JetBlue has been one of the best airlines I have flown with even though they wanted to leave me. I’m still hurt about that. They have pretty comfortable seats, your own television, and they give you night masks. I wish they had a rule that people can’t make-out though. The couple in front of me was making out the whole night. I was so disgusted; I even heard them when I put in my headphones. Just because it’s dark, people can still hear your make out. Really, I closed my eyes and ears and I still get the shivers from thinking about it. I don’t know if you know this, but I hate PDA.

I was so distracted because they just kept making-out and then the lady sitting next to me kept coughing. All I could think about was that she would give me swine flu and I would have to miss all my appointments next week including the Hispanic Gala. That would make me sooo sad!

Skinny ties and what boys think of knee-high boots?

Tony, my Italian pizza shop/mob member came over and kept saying "those are f*** me boots." I couldn't believe my ears, I didn't think I heard it right, but after repeating himself 3 times, I did hear correctly. I just think knee-high boots are really cute and they are easy to dress up or down.

Is this what guys think of when girls wear knee-high boots? Really? I think it's hilarious because I definitely don't wear them with those intentions. I'm not that type of girl, so hmm... Very interesting perspective. I feel like I learn new things from Tony everyday.

Last Christmas I gave Tony a Calvin Klein skinny tie. I mentioned that he should wear the tie with a suit. He didn't think that he could pull it off, but yeah he can! Skinny ties and suits are so in style. I think they look so sleek. The Brad Pitt, black suit, shirt and tie is still sexy as ever, but so are skinny ties and suits. I saw Daniel and Matt wear it on Ugly Betty. If the case members of Ugly Betty wears it, it's legit.

Here's a picture Zac Efron and he wears skinny ties. Look how HOT he is. If Zac Efron is wearing skinny ties with suits, you know it's in. Zac is such a good dresser. Take notes boys...Dress to impress... you can visit www.express.com. The men's section has such well dressed models. I went into a store in California over fall break where they had their men's collection. I was very impressed. All their styles were chic with a touch of edge. LOVE IT.

My Favorite People(s) EVER!

So a majority of my life is either spent at school or work. That's a sad fact, but it's true. If I'm not at good old Zions Bank, I'm at school. Due to that fact, a lot of my classmates have become my greatest friends.

I work with techTITANS as a marketing director!?! I know, how the heck did that happen? It's my buddy Dan Wilson. He recommended me and he's the chair this year. I hope I don't let him down. Marketing is hard because you end up doing a little bit of everything. One of my responsbilities include completely redoing the old website... finally after months of going back and forth, here is the final product: http://www.techtitans.utah.edu/.

I wish I had a picture of Dan Wilson, but I don't! How sad is that? He is the funniest guy ever! He was my 2nd friend in the MBA program. I remember I went to a reception before school started and he came up to me and said something like "Hi I'm Dan. I'm an engineer, but I realized it's not for me. I like people." I didn't know how true this was, but Dan is a people person. He can make friends with everyone. The best thing that I've ever heard from Dan thought is when he pronounces FAQ as "FU-Q." HILARIOUS! It always makes you think twice what he's trying to say. Only Dan can pull that line off. I found a picture of Dan, thank you Facebook!

This is Tony. Yes, he's a walking Geico advertisement. This kid is the most awesome person in the entire world. I heart him SO MUCH! He's the only person, who I would make cupcakes and a cake for his birthday. I cried after making his cake this year because it got so messed up! I had the best plan to make a football cake because he's a HUGE fantasy football person, but it failed. I'll post my mess cake pictures another time. Tony is just a sweet guy. He is a great listener, but he's not afraid to tell is like it is. He also writes the blog for the MBA. If you want to know what it's like to be us, read it. His blog entries are hilarious. Very entertaining! Check it out at http://desbmba.blogspot.com/. His full name is Antonio Furano. He sounds like he should be part of the Italian Mob. Could totally be a New Yorker, but he's not. For reals, his name is totally mob like, but this guy couldn't hurt a fly! Favorite person in the WORLD. So anytime I ask him what to do about a guy, his advice "Grab his junk." I laugh everytime.

I was at the Tailgate and I won a waterbottle! Yay! It's so exciting to win something! It made my day. So here is Bryson. This guy is my ray of sunshine. He just makes me smile anytime I see him. He has that way about him. Always a happy guy. Anytime I'm sad, all I need to do is see his face! He's our BBQer at our tailgates. He always does a great job. He's in the MHA program and is just an overall great guy, the only thing is... He didn't even dress up at all for Halloween... BOO- costume scrouge!!!!

This is Jen in the middle and Nana on the right. Jen was part of my team last year, the Mean Green. We were awesome, we were such a great team which included Tony, Joe Holland, and Josh Parkinson. Now I don't even have any classes with them. WTF!?!

Jen, one word- FANTASTICAL. Just a great professional, teammate, friend, and much more. She's helped me out in so many situations both at school and personally. Jen has this laugh that is super contagious. When she laughs, I laugh. She bought a super cute house in SLC last year and lives with her boyfriend, Tim. They are just a really compatible couple. Jen has the best fridge ever. It's gigantic. Literally, we could have a tea party for 5 in there and still have room to move around. Here we are in good old Disney. We both have giant sunglasses... We are sooo SO CAL!

Nana is from Georgia, the country. That's how she says it everytime. Again, another fabulous person. She loves to cook and she also loves her husband so much. It's so adorable. She is very intelligent and can speak 3 languages fluently. So admirable.

Love these two girls! Here we are at Noodles and Company after my 10K Run. I was rushing through the run to be able to meet these girls. Even my bloody knee from falling couldn't stop me. Brit Walker is like my other half. She is such a smart girl, I am always amazed at her wealth of knowledge and her passion for business. She's the one in glasses on the left. She is a business woman for sure. She worked for a Venture Capital firm this summer. That is HUGE. We also have a blog that we started together. It's sort of halted because of our busy schedules, but hopefully we can pick it up again. It's http://www.serenchicidy.blogspot.com/. She is also the chair for the UEC, http://www.uec.utah.edu/. I love her to death. I'll talk about Ashley Anderson later. Absolutely love her too!

From left to right: Cori- This is Dan's wife. She always wears the cutest shoes.

Chris Zarek- He is a genius. Literally. If you have a question, he can probably tell you the answer. His brain is so big, sometimes I wonder how it fits in his head and why he doesn't get more headaches from thinking all the time. He is a MBA/ Architecture student and he's launching his own firm spring of 2010. He works with me on techTITANS and also he'll be helping us on our Real Estate Challenge Plan. His wife is a OBGYN at the U. He used to go to school in Virgina I think or South Carolina. He used to live in a mortuary with some other guys. There were no dead people, but still. That is creepy. This guy is so funny. He's just the life of the party. You can hear his laugh from miles away. I wish him the best and I know 5 years down the road, he'll be a multi-millionaire and hopefully he'll remember the little people.

Aline: Really pretty, smart, and walks in high heels ALL day long. Even at football games. She even wore heels to Disneyland. Hm... It's amazing she never falls. I would be on my ass 80% of the time if I wore 4 inch heels everywhere. That's Aline. Fashion first.

Jesse: She's hilarious and good in accounting. I'm jealous. I hate accounting. She also has bad luck with getting her cars broken into.

We had a family reunion in California to commemorate my grandfather's death. It's a yearly tradition for us. Good food, good company. Not everyone was there, but here are some of the women. Can I just say I have the best family ever? My mom is the sweetest lady ever. She's 56 and looks like she's 40. The favorite thing is that my mom loves "Lit-al Mer-may" as she calls it. I love it too! My two sisters are GORGEOUS and smart. They put up a lot with me. Forgetfulness. They always have to run errands for me. This week, they had to drop off a sack of underwear and socks because I forgot to bring some from home. :( Ah, my sisters. I HEART THEM. Well, I heart my family!

This is Yogesh. Unfortunately, I didn't really get to know him last year, but then we went to Minneapolis for a NSHMBA conference and that's when I got to know him a little better. NSHMBA was a very good experience. So many large companies in one place. http://www.nshmba.org/. I would recommend anyone go just for the eye opening experience.

Yogesh used to work for Motorola as a software engineer. Ah yeah. I love "eng-gin-ers" as my dad says. Both my parents graduated with electrical engineering degrees, so I hold engineers near and dear to my heart. This guy is always happy. Always has a smile on his face.

Here's a picture of Yogesh carrying my purse. Minneapolis is a scary city. You feel like you are going to get mugged. I was scared I would get killed and I didn't even have a chance to say good-bye to my mom! Anyways, we got so lost because Yogesh's iphone was confused to say the least and took us in all directions and I was scared my purse would get stolen. He held my purse the whole way back to the hotel. What a great guy! Not many guys would do that without complaining too much. He's definitely become one of my favorite people.

Ah... these 3 here have basically changed my life in so many ways. Don't they look like they are heading down a runway? I look at this picture and it reminds me of the scene is Zoolander where the three walk down together. They have seen me grow professionally and as a person for the past 4 years. These 3 people and I make up what I would like to call the Dream Team. We get along wonderfully. We know each other's strengths and weaknesses and just work together really well. With the 4 of us, we can conquer anything!

The one with his arms swinging is Julio. Yes, for some reason, he walks with his arms swinging out a lot. People have commented.

He is my life coach and tells me what to do. We have a love/hate relationship, but we work well with each other. The first time we met, we were in the 7th floor break room. I wasn't even on the floor, but I met my friend there. Julio had a mullet, I thought to myself... Who is this goober? Yes, goober. I said that back in my younger, immature days :). Anyways, I was talking about Idol and something random. In his head, he thought "who the HELL is this girl?" Little did he know, 2 weeks later I'd become his cubi-neighbor. We've been cubi-neighbors ever since. He thought/thinks I'm a weirdo to this day, but yet, I know he'd miss having Lindo Ho in his life. I share my Flintstones gummy bear vitamins with him almost everyday! That means a lot. I don't share my vities with anyone. My life would definitely be a little boring without him in it, making fun of me, being there for all of my goof-ups, etc... We laugh about what our first impressions of each other now because it's just a great story.

Megan and Matt. Two of the most wonderful people in the UNIVERSE. Yes, not just world. Universe. I can't even really explain how great they are, but take my word. If you ever get a chance to meet these two, you'll know why.

Of course I have more favorite people, but I'll stop for now since I have to be up at 6 a.m. to get ready for the Student Entrepreneur Conference tomorrow. Plus you don't want a novel of people. What can I say? I love people and everyone I've met is great and has taken a special little place in my heart. I think every single person I meet plays an important part in my life.

Why does everyone think my name is LINDO HO?!?

So, I have no idea why, but apparently my name in Lindo Ho. Not Linda. Lindo.

Last year, someone sent out an email to the whole entire building at my work with my name in it, which is fine. I'm ok with that, but instead of saying Linda Ho, the email said to contact Lindo Ho. I just laughed it off, but since then it's happened several other times.

I keep thinking it's a typing error, but no. I think people really think Lindo is my name. On the keyboard, the "a" and "o" are in totally different spots.

I had to order individual business cards for the conferences that I've been going to and I send them all the right information.... Name, address, etc... So I get a proof back and this is what I get:

Come on people! Do you really think my name is Lindo Ho? I even Goggled it and no, not too many people named that.

So then to make it worse... I told them to fix my name. They then send me another copy saying "Lindi Ho." So if my name isn't Linda, it's Lindo or Lindi.

I just don't get it? It's not like my name is super hard. LIN-DA or LIN-DUH as some of my friends say.

The last 3 months of my life... Summed up in 1 blog entry... Hmm..

Dear Blog-

I have ignored you! Please don't hate me and I promise to never ignore you again. There has been so many random things that have happened. Pleasant surprises and a heap of embarrassing moments. I don't even know how to I fall so much. It's some kind of undiagnosed illness. I wonder if I have vertigo or my eardrums have too much fluid, which in turn affects my balance.

Life is fantastic! I cannot believe I have about 6 months left for my MBA program. How the heck did 1 1/2 years pass by? I feel like I just barely started the program, scared that I wouldn't have any friends. It's such a weird feeling, like an end of an era to know you are almost done with school. I know I will not miss the tests or homework, but I will definitely miss everyone!

I wish I could see all of my friends everyday, but since I don't, here's the second best thing... My stories. This is going to be the longest blog post in the history of blogs. Just kidding, but it will be long. These are in chronological order.

This doesn't just happen in the movies:

One of the coolest things about my JOB at good old Zions Bank is working on different non-profit events. Back in the end of September, I helped organize the auction for the Chili Affair. This is an auction to raise funds for The Road Home. After months and months of work, the event was finally here. It was at the Salt Palace and there were tons of people coming for a chili tasting. I was super busy getting allt he auction things ready, but finally my co-worker Julio and I got a break to go eat.

I had him sit in the lobby while I went to the bathroom. As I head back, I give a big smile over at Julio because I was so excited to go eat. Oh no, he gives me the most random blank stare ever, so as I head over to him, I said "What are you looking at?" He just looks me up and down and keeps looking down at my feet. I finally figured it out, I had a trail of toilet paper stuck to my shoe. WTF?!?

Julio was saying the only reason he knew was because some girls were staring and he was wondering what they were looking at. I think the best moment was the shocked look on his face and he said, "I only thought this happened in movies, but no it happens to Linda Ho." You know, I could have been really embarassed, but we just both laughed until we cried. It's too funny not too. Seriously, it was meant to be. At least I know how to make an entrance right?

Mission: Mustard Colored Purse
The color mustard is so HOT! I love it, I especially love it in a purse. It's funny though, you think any mustard colored purse would do, but it's not. It has to be the perfect fit, the purse that calls out your name. Unfortunately, I haven't found my perfect purse, but someone else did! I was walking to work, it was extremely cold. I was walking as fast as I could and then I saw it. A lady with a hobo style, mustard colored purse. I was so sad, her purse was filled with so much stuff, it looked like was going to burst. If it were my purse, I would never ever overstuff my purse. I would take care of it like it were a diamond. I would try to never let it touch the ground.

.50 for pajama pants! ?! How is this possible?
My BF, Julia Portillo and I headed to Anne Taylor Loft one Friday, but we had no luck. So we decided to head to Old Navy because Julia has an obsession with mustard colored shoes. You see why we are BFs? We compliment each other.

Anyways, no yellow shoes for her, but we did find pajama shorts for .50. No joke. It was like .49 cents per item. How can Old Navy even sell it for this cheap? Seriously, I don't even know if my 2 quarters covers the cost of the material. But it was AWESOME.

Minneapolis- NSHMBA Conference
This is my first conference ever. I realized looking back that I probably should have never gone. All the signs were there to say, NO DON'T GO! First off, the night before my flight, I got a call from Expedia to say my hotel was overbooked. They tried to move me to a lower class hotel and so I got so mad! I was staying at a luxury hotel and they tried to put me in like a 2 1/2 or 3 star hotel. I know that sounds super bratty, but hotels mean a lot to me! The Ho Family doesn't really like to stay in anything less than a 4 star hotel.

Anyways, after finding out that I couldn't get a nice hotel, I couldn't help, but cry on the phone. Seriously, I was so mad, I started to cry which is not like me. Everyone knows I'm not much of a crier. We were finally able to book a nicer hotel after many hours spent worrying about our stay.
Then I head to the airport... Our flight was supposed to leave at 6. Oh no, it was canceled. We spent like 5 hours in the airport. I did see David Archuletta though! He checked in right in front of me. I so wanted a picture, but his giant body guard was there and was scared :(. I missed out on an opportunity of a lifetime.

So we get there, late and tired. After our reception at the conference I went downstairs to use the computers. Oh no, I was stupid enough to forget my flash drive. Yep, it's gonzo. I was so sad, but I realize in life, sometimes sad things happen to make sure you remember what happiness is.
One thing that I'm super glad though is that I got to know Vatsala, Yogesh, Tuhin, Noi, and Kiever so much more! I haven't really gotten a chance to talk to these guys, but with the trip, I fell in love with each and everyone of them. Minneapolis is cool, but I decided it's a place that I could never live at.

Sunny California- Love it!
Family reunions are the best! We were in California for part of fall break and I'm going to say, by far the best experience. My cousin, Cindy or as we like to call her Kinty... Took us to get the best hand roll ever! So good! I heart sushi so much. Then she took us to get fro-yo. It's such a big craz to get frozen yogurt, but I'm going to say, it was DELICIOUS.

Dang 10K, got the better of me!
So why did I do a 10K? Joe Holland. I love him to death, but he got me all pumped for it. He told me to sign up for the Human Race and of course I did. So I start off the race really good. About 60 minutes and 4.5 miles later, I felt the pain. I've never ran that much at one time before, but I had to keep continuing. I was too far to stop. No matter how much my butt hurt.

So I was almost finished and the guy on the bike came and told me I was .2 miles away. Well, at this point, I said, I better book it, plus I had to meet Ashley and Brit for lunch so I needed to hurry. I start to run as fast as I can and next thing I know, bam, I just hit the cement. There's leaves all in my sleeves, pockets, and underwear. My cell phone flew and I have scratches all over my pink razor! I'm so sad, even more about the razor than my bloody knee.

I did meet a few friends. They saw me fall and came running over to help me up and we finished the race together. They were so sweet, they kept saying that it was uneven pavement. I'll take that explaination any day.

Who cares about anything else? Save the Jamba Juice!
Julio and I have started to go on a diet together. He gets Naked Juice and I like to get Jamba, mango mantra... Best thing ever! Julio always drives because he's just cool like that. I get my Jamba and we head back to good old Zions. As I am walking towards the building, I'm just chatting away and all of a sudden I fall. Julio is in shock. He doesn't even know what to say or do, so I hold out my hand for him to help me up. We just both started laughing because my shoes were in place. It was as if someone had put super glue and I tripped. We thought my Jamba was a goner. Nope, I was able to save it with 1 hand! Take that! I do have a bloody knee, but small sacrifice for keeping my Jamba safe.

Most of the time, I don't even know how Julio deals with me. I must give him props. I remember one day, we wanted to go to Ahh Sushi and I had left my wallet at home. We got to the door and I told him that I didn't have my ID. Normally people would be mad, not Julio. He's not even surprised. He just turned around said, "well I guess we are not going" and headed to Gandolfo's. This is why he has been assigned me two un-named people as my guardian angel. He has a 24/7 job taking care of me.

Well, I hope you enjoy my life story so far. I have more to come, my trip to Disneyland, etc... but that's on hold for another day.
